Trauma Effect

(Door Knock) May I come in Sir? (RR) Come in. GM sir. (RR) GM Please have your seat. Thank you sir. (RR) Can I have your resume? Tell me something about yourself. What is an OS? WAP for bubble sort. What is your short term and long term plans?

GM contest chair, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, this was the placement scenario, which I had to undergo as part of campus recruitment process. I managed to answer almost all the questions fired at me by the m/c gun being the interviewer. However, when the final list was out my name was nowhere. You name the company my name was not there. Accenture, IBM, HP, Cognizant, etc I did not make it. My Self-morale, self esteem, self-confidence dipped like Bombay Stock exchange, however my experience to encounter failures increased like Obama’s popularity. This was the time when Martin Luther King words echoed in my mind- “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”.

How many of us here use a body spray/deodorant? (Rise of hands) What happens when you use it .It smells great, wow over a period of time, it wears off, and next day you smell lousy again, that is of course, if you did not use the “axe effect” My dear friends most times also motivation does the same thing. It lasts for about 24 hours and slowly wears off.

Most of my friends, parents motivated me not to lose hope and never give up. Soon I realized that the only way to come out of this trauma was self motivation- a burning desire that drives us every day to change the world and the destiny. It is our desire for a better life, better growth and better future.

I have nine company rejections under my belt which does not sound good thou but, I am equally intelligent as my competitors are. All my friends were getting into a company and I wasn’t getting anything. I used to go until the final round and then kaboom. Trust me it one of the most weirdest and pathetic situation you can ever be in. It is like bungee jumping from the tallest building Burj Khalifa but without the harness. I was dejected depressed and devastated with the placement process. In order to cheer up myself and others who hadn’t got placed I created a community called USA- Unemployed Students of Amrita which initially had lot of members on board but now the count is reduced to just 20% of which I am a part of. I will definitely transform from USA to ESA before I graduate. I know there is some company out there who is willing to experiment this masterpiece.

Since I was failing in every company I sat for, on a lighter side my father said if you fail again don’t call me “dad” ok. My IBM interview was awesome. The results were out. My dad called at night to find out what my result was. I said sorry da Punuswami, I failed raa macha. However, my dad didn’t discourage me instead he said that’s ok don’t worry tera number b aayega. He repeated Winston Churchill words “Never (3) give up”

During the placement scenario, I just realized one needs to take and digest completely these trauma pills, namely hope positive self-talk and positive visualization to come out of trauma with flying colors.

Hope-Never ever lose your hope. With hope, you can achieve tremendous amount of results and scale the ladder of success.

+ve Self talk- Say I will do it and I must do it come what may. Talk to yourself the way you want to be, not just the way you want to be at this moment. Remember, you may be present here purely by accident. Nevertheless, where you are going in the future will be purely by design.

+ve Visualization- See yourself recovering day by day. Remember, all improvement in your life begins with an improvement in your mental pictures. See yourself as the best continually and say I’m just “awesome”

My dear friends if you digest these 3 trauma pills hope, +ve self talk and +ve visualization I am sure you will win all the battles. I have digested these pills completely and the next time I go for an interview I will definitely get the job.
My motto is “Dream big, achieve bigger live life king size”. In the words of BRIAN TRACY, “The future belongs to the competent. Get good, get better, be the best” CC

First Runner up Speech @ club level

JUMBALA ISLANDS

Sup macha’s, machi’s, (aam admi) mango people and respected judges. Welcome to the annual chinkpokli oratory contest at (sound effect) Jumbala islands. I am chummeshwar, today we have an amazing awesome and astonishing speakers lined up. Without wasting, much ado please put your hands together for the realistic romantic reliable Rohan on to the stage. Thank you chummeshwar and mango people. (Show signs of nervousness and faint).

GE Contest chair, fellow TM and mango people. I faced this public speaking anxiety for the 1st time in my entire life. My body froze to death however; I could hear my heart beating like a 10,000 wala pataka (heart beat sound). From that day onwards, I owed to myself that I will improve and surpass all odds in PS come what may. Today I am here to fulfill that dream. Mango people I am not here to tell you all how to overcome PSA because you all are par excellence. I am here in the form of your subconscious mind to ask you this: What have u accomplished in life so far? When was the last time you sat down & thought about where you are heading & how am I going to get there? Is this what I want in life? For most of us here, who are “frank” to ourselves the answer would be like no, nothing, not good and so on. Therefore, Vincent T Lombardi says, “The difference b/w a successful person and others is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather in lack of desire”.

How many of us here use a body spray/deodorant? (Rise of hands) What happens when you use it .It smells great, wow however over time, it wears off, and next day you smell lousy again, that is of course, if you did not bathe or use the “axe effect” My dear friends most times also motivation does the same thing. It lasts for about 24 hours and slowly wears off.

One of the key to success is your self-motivation coupled with passion-A burning desire that drives us every day to change the world and destiny! It is our desire for a better life, better growth and better future. (Lance Armstrong e.g.)

Desire is sure a word, but it is much richer than the word “want” though they are essentially the same. “Want”, though, sounds like you could take it or leave it. “Desire, is “want” with a fire under it”.

As Swami Vivekananda says “All power is within you; you can do anything and everything. Believe in that; do not believe that you are weak. Stand up and express the divinity within you”. Therefore, to build the fire of your desire we essentially require just 3 things the wood, the fuel and the match.

1st is The WOOD: Keep a clear mental picture of your goal. The picture of the goal is like the wood in a fire. It is the raw material. Know what your goal looks like.

2nd is The FUEL: Keep a list, of all of the pros and cons of pursuing and reaching your goal. Make them as “sense” oriented as possible. “See” them.”Hear” them.”Touch” them. This is like the fuel that we add to a fire to keep it going

3rd is The MATCH: Keep yourself active! This is the match: Action. “Action speaks louder than words”. Even when you don’t feel like it, get yourself to act and soon you will see the fire burning because you have ignited “the dream!”

Don’t let the fire die out, since it is easier to continually throw wood and fuel on an already burning fire than to start it once again.

If you inculcate this 3 essential equipments i.e. the wood, the fuel and the match you will ignite your life. Remember: “The idea is 10% and the implementation is 90%, but you cannot teach pigs to fly no matter how long the runway is”.

So, the next time when you meet someone & they ask you sup. Your eyes will light up and boldly say, “I have been on fire! Let me tell you all about it” It’s Smoking (laugh) Contest Chair.

Class Trip 09

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", but we the CSE B students are not like that. We do study and give tough competition to one another and also we do have fun. Our class is the most united and lively class in our batch.

We went for a class trip last year to a couple of places like shivanasamudra, gaganchukki, barchukki and talkdau . Trust me it was "awesome". Everyone got together no matter what work they had and made this trip a memorable one to all of them. We had lot of fun singing, dancing, playing in water, splashing water on others, walking the ramp he he :) et all. It was fun filled trip with everyone chipping their bit.

On behalf of our class I wish to thank the organizers who made it happen. So all the people out there you got to go out for a class trip to experience and witness what i am trying to convey. I will sign of with a few snaps which we took.
